Amsterdam Fashion Institute

At the Amsterdam Fashion Institute, I worked on several research projects aimed at creating a more sutainable fashion system.

Research Report: Measuring The Dutch Clothing Mountain
A report about the number of clothing items used and discarded per capita in the Netherlands.

We created this publication to make the data readily available and understandable for professionals in the fashion industry, while also raising awareness about the volume of clothing we consume and what becomes of our used items.
I contributes to the data collection and visualization.

Project: Sustainable Fashion Production
A research project on sustainable fashion production methods.

In collaboration with fashion designer Karin Vlug, I developed a production method for personalized fashion items aimed at reducing overproduction and minimizing the amount of hand work in the fashion system.

In this process, the garment design is adjusted to the wearers exact size using a 3D bodyscan. The flexible mould system is then set to the specific dimensions of the personalized design, and the garment is produced directly in a three-dimensional shape using a nonwoven textile.
